Egg-citement

Since the last post we got what we asked for. The chickens are working over time for sure! We are getting anywhere from 5-8 eggs a day. We currently have 3 dozen in our fridge. If anyone is in the market for some farm fresh eggs- just ask!!!!

Jackson is on egg boycott for now. After a week of eggs for breakfast and some for dinner he gave up. I can't blame him- he likes variety!!!!!!!!

Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is well on its way. Jackson loves Christmas music and he makes us play the wind up Santa all the time. He also tries to sing along to jungle bells which is super cute because the only word he really knows is "hey". Adorable I tell you.
Here are some recent pictures- enjoy.

All about the Chickens

the first egg- YIPPEEEEEE

Ok so I think that the chickens may have bought themselves some time!!! This afternoon we found our first egg. Scott was stacking wood and heard all the comotion. He found the little brown egg in one of the nesting boxes. A barred rock was the proud layer. Scott has been talking about adding the chickens to the cow in the freezer for awhile now. It is a beautiful fall day in Newmarket- the leaves are falling quickly and the wind is blowing. I am starting to get the garden ready for winter. We have two little pumpkins growing but I don't think they will make it. Jackson and I are going to pick out our pumpkins this afternoon- only a couple days left to get the jack-o-lanterns ready!!!!!!

We hope that everyone is enjoying the fall. Before we know it winter will be here.

Seapoint Beach

Today was the perfect fall day. The whole family was home- which is a rare occurence these days. Scott came up with the great idea to head to Seapoint Beach, which is one of our favorite places to take Cassidy. It is a dog friendly beach on Kittery Point in Maine. We haven't been all summer, which is kind of sad. So we headed out this morning. It was beautiful. The beach was empty except for a couple of other dogs and their owners. Cassidy had a blast!!!!! It was nice to see her running free. This place is highly recommended for any dog lovers in the area. Maggie Glacier would love it!

So we did some walking, some digging and some tide-pooling. We were there for almost an hour. The sun was out and a breeze was blowing. You couldn't ask for a more perfect fall day. The rest of the day was spent seeing old friends- like the wonderful Doula that helped us with Jackson's birth and a friend from college. We made bread, babaganoush (spelling is definitely wrong on this one) and Scott stacked some wood. We even did laundry. If only most days could go like this one.

On a slightly differnt note- I have a new cookbook that I got for Jackson. It's called Better than Peanut Butter and Jelly. It is a great little cookbook for kids. It is vegetarian but full of wonderful variety. I have been making things out of it for the past month. I would tell anyone with kids (or experimental adults) to grab it. Jackson has liked everything I have made so far.

Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful fall season.

Happy Fall

Today is the first day of fall. Probably our favorite season of all. The weather was crisp for a few days but got warmer the last few days of the week. Newmarket is having it's annual Heritage Festival this weekend. The Rowe's love Kettle Corn!!!!!! The chickens still aren't laying any eggs. Scott gave them another month before the half a cow in the basement as 10 chicken friends for the winter!

We got Jackson's Halloween costume last week- so darn cute.

Enjoy the little preview . . . . .

September Heat Wave

We are now a week into September. It's hot. Really Hot. Even at 8:30pm. I guess thems the breaks. We wanted to wish Lynn/Mom/Grandma a happy birthday. It was great to see everyone at the lake today, even though Jackson slept for a big chunk of the time. He had such a great time that he didn't sleep at all in the afternoon (he sat in the basement talking to MArvin instead- he was happy down there for a while because it was cooler down there). Jacskson happily went to sleep after a full day of family fun. Mom and dad are tired as well. Partying is hard work!!!!!

So i got a few new pictures from Lynn. In August we went walking at an old farm site here in Newmarket- The Wiggins Farm. It is only about a mile loop but it sure is nice. You pass by a little pond- which Cassidy loves!!!! and then walk up to the hill top to over look the field. It will be nice to snowshoe around if we get enough snow! THe day we went of course it was raining. Betty and Lynn were champs and we made it about half way before turning back. Enjoy the pictures!!!!

maggie this ones for you

We have to find the software so we can upload videos from our video camera, so to remedy the situation we used the camera. I know it's sideways and the quality isn't very good, but it's still pretty cool. We've got a hot-rod on our hands...

Laboring away on Labor Day

So Maggie requested more pictures of Jackson. We have big news in Newmarket- Jackson is walking!!!!!!!!!! It is pretty friggin' cool. Now, he isn't walking all the time, but he is going for quite some distance. He is choosing to walk more often. He has been walking a few steps here and there for a while now. Yesterday he just thought it was the coolest game to walk for a while and have us clap for him. Scott started his new class today- he loves being back in school!!! He said he felt like he was back in high school. His class is Making Babies. When he finshes this class he will only have a couple more left before he too becomes a UNH alum.

Loni is hanging in there. She is hoping to find a new job- she is willing to commute. Maybe it's time for someone else to help protect the children of Rockingham COunty . . . . Job opportunties are welcome . . . . .
